Bad theology.

This is a case in point on how the ELCA views God's Word.
Last year, popular ELCA Rev. Nadia Bolz-Weber remarked: “We should never be more loyal to an idea or an interpretation of a Bible verse than we are to people." https://yaledailynews.com/blog/2018/02/02/bolz-weber-calls-for-new-christian-ethic/
Nadia is extremely wrong on both. Society infiltrating the church.
So Nadia, a false teacher, calls out Franklin Graham, an actual minister of God.
Nadia Bolz-Weber doesn't know what the "Gospel" is and what it means to repent. She actually encourages people in their sinful lifestyles and beliefs. Who were the people Jesus used to do His work? According to Nadia Bolz-Weber, “He always used the scoundrels and the broken people and the demoniacs, you know what I mean?” From this article.
Jesus used people He freed from demons. Jesus did not leave people possessed and have them do His work, as Nadia says. Nadia Bolz-Weber was asked "Do you think God punishes?" She replied:
"All I can say is, I certainly hope not. Because I’d be screwed. All I can say is, I think if God punishes, then I don’t understand Jesus on the cross saying, 'Forgive them, for they know not what they’re doing.' If God was that sort of punishing God, then I can’t think of a better situation than striking down all the people who crucified Jesus. I mean, that’s what I’d do. That’s why I need a God who’s not like me to save me." - Nadia Bolz-Weber from this article. Are you that ignorant of Scripture, Pastor Bolz-Weber? Isaiah 13:11 - I will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless. Proverbs 11:21 - Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free. 2 Thessalonians 1:5-10 - This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may beconsidered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering—6 since indeed God considers it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, 7 and to grant relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels 8 in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from[b] the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, 10 when he comes on that day to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed. “oh my god, nobody believes every line of the creed.” - Nadia Bolz-Weber, quote from this video - https://vimeo.com/73913123
Nadia Bolz-Weber quoted while on her book tour.
"I confess that I am a Christo-centric universalist. What that means to me is that, whatever God was accomplishing, especially on the cross, that Christological event, was for the restoration and redemption and reconciliation of all things and all people and all Creation – everyone. Whatever God was getting done there, that is for everyone. How God manages to play that out through other religions, other symbol systems, I will never understand. I have to allow for the idea that God is actually nimble enough and powerful enough and creative enough to do that.” - Nadia Bolz-Weber, quote is from this article.
"I looked Billy’s mother in the eyes and said that what I know for sure is that God is always present in love and in suffering. And that God was present both the moment Billy entered this world and the moment he left it, loving him back into the arms of his Creator." - Nadia Bolz-Weber, From her book, Accidental Saints. Page 110.
“Sometimes I can be an asshole, but it’s almost as though I can hear Jesus saying ‘uh, that’s okay, it’s not that I, like, love you and claim you despite that. I love you and claim you because of that.’” - Nadia Bolz-Weber
